We have an innate understanding of what works, and more importantly, what doesn't. That understanding is shown in our products: We carefully craft high quality items that include all the features that are important, nothing superfluous and, above all, are more durable than anything in the marketplace.

Down jackets or puffer jackets are a 'must have' for New Zealand winters. Good down jackets are never cheap so when you buy one you want it to last.
Our journey began with a simple goal: to craft a down jacket robust enough for the adventurous souls braving the wilderness, whether for work or play. The result? We did. Our super tough Down Jacket would stand up to gorse, firewood stacking, and brushing past the old farm gear you left out.
Yet, our ambition didn't end there.
Inspired by the legendary durability of our canvas Supertrousers, we envisioned a down jacket that embodies the same indestructible spirit. Enter the Cactus Canvas Down Jacket: a marvel of craftsmanship, this jacket is far from the typical lightweight layer.
It's a well-made workhorse for those who work in the toughest of environments, designed with no compromise on toughness, warmth, and reliability.
Crafted with pride in New Zealand, our 30+ years of manufacturing know-how shows through in every detail of the Cactus Canvas Down Jacket.
We've listened, we've learned, and we've enhanced. Features include a robust two-way zipper, reinforced pockets for added durability, a detachable hood for versatility, and advanced water-repellent C-Canvas to keep you dry and warm in the harshest conditions.
Key features of the Canvas Down Jacket include:
- Water-repellent Premium C-Canvas exterior for ultimate protection.
- An adjustable, detachable hood, offering customizable shelter from the elements.
- A durable main zipper, equipped with a two-way slider for ease and flexibility.
- 750-loft white goose down, ethically and responsibly sourced, ensuring exceptional warmth without compromise.
- DWR-treated down, ensuring that even in the rain, the down resists water, prevents clumping, and continues to insulate.
- A robust Premium C-Canvas outer shell, paired with a soft nylon taffeta lining, and reinforced at critical wear points for unmatched durability.
- Ample storage with two internal chest pockets, an external chest pocket, and two fleece-lined hand pockets for warmth and convenience.
- Comfort-enhancing fleece-lined cuffs, a testament to our attention to every detail.
Proudly made in New Zealand, the Cactus Canvas Down Jacket is more than just a piece of clothing; it's a commitment to quality, durability, and the outdoor lifestyle that defines us.

Tired of waterproof breathable jackets that wear out and don't keep you dry? Then the Cactus Rain Jacket is for you. Built from ultra-tough 3 layer WTF-3 fabric, this heavy-duty jacket will protect you from rain, wind, snow, and whatever else nature throws at you - and is guaranteed to last the distance in tough New Zealand conditions.
Similar in concept and design to our proven Mountain Jacket, the Rain Jacket is a longer cut so it keeps your shorts dry and protects your butt when you sit down for a brew in the rain.

Down jackets or puffer jackets are a 'must have' for New Zealand winters. Good down jackets are never cheap so when you buy one you want it to last.
This is why we took on the challenge to make a tougher down jacket for those working and playing hard in the outdoors. And we did - super tough winter jackets that stand up to gorse, firewood stacking, brushing past old farm gear and the likes, they even stand up to the odd spilled coffee on the sideline on a frosty Saturday morning.
Taking on broad feedback that we've had over the years, from both our customers and our repairs team, we've strengthened them in all the places that down jackets are known to fail.
The latest evolution of our men's Cactus Down Jacket features a grunty two way zipper, extra strengthening around the pockets, a removable hood, a few more 'Michelin man' rolls, improved water repelling super powers and so much more.

In Nepal, the Sherpa take on a myriad of tasks - guiding, carrying, cooking and cajoling Westerners on their journeys. When designing our new insulated jacket, these were the attributes we wanted to emulate.
Like every Cactus product, the Norbu (named after a guide during one of our Himalayan sojourns) is a simple, solid, subtle and utterly reliable product. We’ve always been about making good sh*t that lasts a long time and the Norbu is no different.
Using synthetic insulation means it is more tolerant to a bit of moisture - be it rain from the outside or sweat from within. As you’d expect, it sports legendary tough YKK zips and our proprietary “tough arse” reinforcement.
Most importantly, it was designed with our 30-plus years of engineering know-how, and all the long-lasting Cactus toughness that brings.

Our Dreadnought HD’s have been around a while now and have definitely developed something of an underground cult following due to their surprising comfort, superior breathability and absolutely incomparable durability. While they have become the ski pant of choice for those who demand the ultimate in burliness, you’ll also find them exceeding the expectations of those working in demanding conditions around the globe.
The HD’s were born of the notion that working/living/playing in tough environments (especially cold ones) didn't need to mean that you had to compromise comfort or durability. Originally designed for telemark skiing by Mark Schafer, these have been refined and redesigned over the years.
Constructed from our Ultra 12oz C-Canvas, these will outlast any other trouser - full stop. Our usual philosophy of making “gear that wear in not out” applies – these will get better and better with age. These are seriously heavy duty yet very warm and comfortable. However, if you find yourself spending more time in slush than fresh powder then our Lifties might be a better bet.
- Super durable and highly wearable Ultra 12oz C-Canvas, to help when you are looking down the barrel of a full season with a questionable amount of cash
- High back waist design for good overlap/warmth
- Pre-bent leg to keep movement free when it's all happening fast
- Webbing cinch cuffs for locking the snow out
- 2 handy front zip pockets for your lip stuff/cash etc
- Construction backed by a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship
- Colour: Black
- Weight: 1210 grams (Medium)
- Fabrics: Ultra C-Canvas, C-600n6
- Our canvas has a water resistant coating which can shift and discolour through the initial break in period
- Use mild detergent or pure soap (preferably one that's nice to the environment)
- For best results hand wash until the garment is broken in. Machine washing is fine after this
- Drip dry without creases (it won't take long as the polyester in the fabric doesn't hold much water)
- Close zips while washing (they'll last longer)
- If you get poked by a probe after avvy burial, you'll get a bruise but the burly canvas fabric will just laugh it off (even if you don't). If you do somehow manage to hole it though, send it back and we'll patch it. Good luck trying!
- If you are still not sure, give us a call or flick us an email

32 years ago when we started Cactus, we just did what came naturally. Since then we've realised that (doh!) actually thinking about the things one does is pretty useful.
We're pretty certain that, had we introduced our new "Thinking Cap" back in the day, we'd be rolling in cash and sunning ourselves right now on the beaches of Ibiza. Suffice it to say, the Thinking Cap is only new, and we're still firmly ensconced here in NZ.
But if you want to fast-forward your life goals, achieve your ambitions and avoid sunburn as an added bonus. Have at it.

The Storm Fleece is a top that will have you warm and protected in any bad weather events, should you be caught in one.
This garment is born in-between our lighter weight fleece & heavy duty Windpro, We understand the need for a slightly thicker & slightly warmer garment but without all the bells & whistles.
The Storm Fleece finds itself in a happy medium. Warm, durable, reliable, but also lighter and more packable than our hardcore Windpro.
The same cut as our 1/4 Zip Fleece but in our super thick 350gsm Windshield fabric. This is the same tough fleece used in the Windpro and similarly has all the key essentials to a reliable and bulletproof garment. This fleece is perfect for any backcountry trips you have planned.

MEASURING YOUR FEET
If you are unsure of the size you normally wear in any of those 'Sizing Types', then measuring your feet length will provide a guide as to what size footwear you need to order. Following the simple guide below, measure 'both feet'. You will most likely find one foot is slightly longer than the other, which is quite normal. Then find your Cactus jandal size by comparing your foot measurement.
• You'll need a large piece of paper
• Stand with your heel against a flat wall
• Mark the longest distance from your heel to the tip of your toe, then measure it
