Just when you thought you couldn't get anything better than merino for outdoor work or play... we bring you Cactus merino!
So what's so blimin good about it? In a nutshell:
The secret is in how the fibres are held together. Traditionally, fibres are twisted together for strength but in the process, the ends poke out, giving materials like wool their characteristic of the itchy Grandmas home knitted jersey feel.
Like wringing out a cloth, air pockets are squeezed out too. Cactus Merino on the other hand, lays the fibres along the same orientation as the rest of the yarn, so fabrics feel more comfortable. Because more of the insulating air is retained, Cactus merino materials are warmer and loftier than ring spun materials.
• 91% merino, 9% Nylon
Hand wash in cold water (separately for first wash as colour may bleed)
Do not use bleach
Do not dry clean
- Nearly perfectReview by Alan
I bought one of these L/s Nuyarn Merino and have given it a fair go. It’s tough and comfy. The length is right. The body is not cut for the athlete amongst us. The sleeves are a bit loose considering how stretchy the material is, the cuffs could do with being a bit tighter too.
The shoulder and side hems are not flat lock stitched. Wearing this as a base layer with a rucksack you really do need flat lock seams.
Some other colours wouldn’t go amiss.
You might thing i am knocking this product but i’m not. I like it a lot but the seams need sorting if nothing else. (Posted on 3/09/15)
- Just as they say Tuff MerinoReview by John
- Have purchased 2 of these long sleeved merino tees, and as always with Cactus, you get what you expected, a tuff, durable, toasty warm, beautifully made garment, mind you I'm a Cactus convert, so don't take my word for it, go and buy one, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.
