Our “keep it simple - stupid” canvas day pack built for New Zealand’s rugged conditions. Clean, sturdy construction, minimal seams, C-Canvas for durable water resistance (and less noise in the bush) and that traditional, diamond-in-the-rough feel.

The size, simplicity and all-round toughness make this a popular pack for commuters, walkers, trampers and hunters alike. Also, in a nice (and, it has to be admitted, unplanned) turn of events, the Miklat meets sizing requirements for cabin baggage – another string to this pack’s bow. An extremely versatile Cactus classic.

If you love the no nonsense approach of the Miklat, but need more serious load carrying capacity, check out the BLT. If you love the Miklat but need to carry ice tools and crampons, you could get an attachment added for an extra cost. Email us here or call 0800 122 682 for more info.

  • A generous size main bag, made of C-Canvas for water resistance and that soft but bombproof feel

Care

  • Our pack fabrics have various waterproofing coatings, treatments and proofings. To make these last as long as possible we do not recommend machine washing

  • Brush dirt from the product while still dry

  • Hand wash in cold or warm water using mild detergent or pure soap - preferably one that's nice to the earth

  • Close zips while washing (they'll last longer), you can also lightly oil or wax zips periodically to increase their lifespan

  • Drip dry without creases

  • If you poke your hunting knife through your Miklat by accident, send it back to us and, for a small fee, we’ll make it good.

  • If you are still not sure, give us a call or flick us an email

Reviews

Very happy with my MiklatReview by Angus
It is a versatile bit of gear, goes everywhere with me from the bush to the city. It's durability, comfortable harness and long compression straps are my favourite things about it. You can comfortably carry quite a bit of weight in the Miklat. If you think you will be loading it up too I would recommend the sternum strap.

It has impressed me most when I stuff a dry bag in it and go canyoning. I go canyoning in the Blue Mountains (NSW Australia) where the canyons are composed predominantly of sandstone. What this means is as you slide/crawl/climb/abseil through the canyon (I often use my pack to wedge myself into cracks and against walls during tricky descents) your gear gets regularly dragged over the sandstone, which acts a lot like sandpaper. This means most people's bags look like they have been run over by a lawn mower after a couple of seasons. Not the Miklat. It's abrasion resistance never ceases to amaze. I was also pleasantly surprised at how little water gets in it, even after swimming a section.

The long compression straps mean that when it's time to hike out you can simply strap your wetsuit, thermals and what ever else got saturated to the outside of the Miklat and get cracking. (Posted on 20/07/18)
