The BLT (or  Big Load Transporter) is our large, uncomplicated, single compartment canvas pack. It’s designed for those who demand simplicity, durability, heavy load comfort and exceptional value for money.

Originally a response to requests from outdoor training institutions and schools whose packs get a lifetime of use in only a few years, the Cactus solution soon found favour with hunters and trampers also looking for a more reliable offering.

Our “less is more” design philosophy shines through in the BLT. No features that you don’t need and no marketing gimmicks. We reckon that if this pack doing it’s job, it’s comfort and durability will be the only evidence of the features that we think you really need, but we might as well tell you about them. A single main compartment, strategic reinforcement of high wear points, minimal attachments, fixed lid, extra long compression straps and our well-proven GS harness and framesheet are what make this pack.

This pack will appeal to anyone who finds themselves carrying big loads or appreciates honest traditional simplicity and durability.

If you like the approach we took with the BLT but just don’t need that much volume, we suggest you check out the Miklat.

  • C-Canvas – weatherproof, highly UV resistant, super strong and long lasting

  • Big lids are good

  • Single compartments are lighter, more weatherproof and stronger

  • 3D shaped framesheet mimics the shape of the torso and keeps the load close to your back

  • Single walking pole/axe attachment point

  • Includes No Worries 5yr Pack Guarantee

  • Covered by Cactus-Tough Lifetime Warranty

  • Colour: Black/Blue

  • Volume: 70-75 litres depending on size

  • Our pack fabrics have various waterproofing coatings and treatments. To make these last as long as possible we recommend that you don’t wash your bag in a machine

  • Brush dirt from the product while still dry

  • Hand wash in cold or warm water using mild detergent or pure soap - preferably one that's nice to the earth

  • Close zips while washing (they'll last longer), you can also silicone spray or  lightly wax zips periodically to increase their lifespan

  • Drip dry without creases

  • Lowering your pack down that bluff first was a good idea, but knocking the big rock off onto it wasn’t? The lovely ladies at the Cactus factory will repair for a small contribution to their wages

  • If you are still not sure, give us a call or flick us an email

I wish I was using cactus packs a long long time agoReview by Paul Michaels, Big Game Indicating Dogs
I’ve been walking around in the New Zealand hills carrying heavy ass packs one way or another for about 10 years full time. I Brought my first Cactus Pack, (a BLT size 3) about 6 weeks ago and gave it a good working for a few weeks down south. I have to say, the build quality, simplicity, and the way the harness gets the load properly on my back is like nothing else I have ever used. (And I’ve used them all) I wish I was using cactus packs a long long time ago. Paul Michaels, Big Game Indicating Dogs (Posted on 18/04/18)
